Medicare can be thought of as a basic healthcare package provided by the federal government once you hit 65, or sooner if you're disabled, and this package covers many essentials. However, it doesn't cover everything.
Now, think of Medicare Advantage as an upgraded version of this package, offered by private companies but approved by Medicare. Generally you get all the standard benefits, plus some extra perks. These perks can include coverage for dental care, vision, and even gym memberships, all bundled into one plan. However, unlike original Medicare that lets you see any doctor who accepts Medicare, depending on your plan's network, your medical care will generally come from a network of specific list of doctors and hospitals in the area.
Many Medicare Advantage plans charge no additional premium beyond what you already pay Medicare. But it's important to shop around because costs and coverage can vary.
That's what we do: we help you shop around and enroll in what's right for you. For a few folks, Original Medicare just might be your best bet, and that's okay. However, we have found that most people, especially those with financial constraints or chronic conditions, are better off with Medicare Advantage. We'll go over your options and make sure you understand, so you can make the right choice for you.
